Grateful
Back in my hotel in Hong Kong, listening to the new Daft Punk album, finishing a bottle of Jonny Walker Black Label (in the morning), and planning my departure for Australia in 4 hours.
My life is awesome: Be a family doctor, deliver babies, teach, do good things.
Being a Family Physician has allowed me to travel since the first year of medical school- the desire to care for all ages, all people, all around the world- has opened incredible doors for me. I’ve also been blessed with an OK eye for photography, and some idea of how English grammar works.
I hope the 3 of you who are reading this get excited about whatever it is in your life you want to do, whatever that is. For me a year ago I wanted to do this- travel the world, be a doctor, make photographs, and tell people about the things I see every day.
I do it every day, and I couldn’t be happier. All I did was say “I want to do this, and am willing to work to make it happen”.
In months it was happening, and the World was open. I had love and help from my adopted family, which helped to give me the time to do it, and that made it possible.
I’m a lucky duck, and I recognize it every day.
Do what you love, do it today.

Last minute gear run for the ship. Two more items to pick up in Sydney.
Boarding for London
When I am done will have gone full around the world by land sea and air.
I took a 7 week coast to coast road trip after being laid off from Boeing. I didn’t have a camper but realized that being able to pull off the road at a rest or truck stop was the way to go to make the trip affordable. With a few sheets of 1/2” plywood and misc. hardware this is what I came up with. The effort was well worth the time and materials.
Can we do this?
Please
Courtney Sanders - Training While Injured (by LaSportivaNA)
Bad. Ass.
While it’s easy to feel bad and not train while injured, you could just as easily make it your motivation. Get better and stronger in spite of yourself.
The revolutionary optimists
Armed with loudspeakers and mapping devices, young activists who call themselves ‘the Daredevils’ have amplified the concerns of their communities in Kolkata’s slums loudly enough for the world to hear - their focus…preventive health, education and environment. The teenagers are subjects of the feature film The Revolutionary Optimists, which was screened at UNICEF headquarters in New York.
What do you think of their efforts?
Now…please share with us what you could do in your community to change the world around YOU.
